Two years since the release of their full length debut Less Talk, More Paper Scissors, Australian indie outfit The Paper Scissors continue to prove themselves confident conduits of elastic, cacouphonous, southwest style rock music. Vocalist Jai Pyne's wounded yelp shares some distant source hurt with Modest Mouse's Issac Brock, to be sure- but it's the momentum of their riffs' tumble that sets Scissors apart from their smokey, cooly depressed contemporaries.
Their latest- the aptly titled "Howl"- is a rambling accusation of a jam, with a proud crescendo rivaling that first post-breakup barfight. By far one of the best rock songs of the summer.
The Paper Scissors are currently touring in support of the Howl EP, available now from iTunes.
