Have yall been following Little Boots' FUNTIMES!!! Channel on YouTube? Basically, once a week Boots (born Victoria Hesketh) selects a single cover request from her MySpace page, and kicks it out lo-fi stylee with fresh digital instrumentation. It's such a simple concept- tangible fan outreach through non-traditional social media- but to maintain the quality and variety she has through the effort speaks volumes of a young artist biting her lip to avoid blowing the fuck up like, last month.
Below, I've ripped three deft executions from the FUNTIMES!!! project, covering a fresh face in hip hop, nu-classic DFA dance punk, and a reverently rendered bit of 90's cheese.
