I've much love for Wednesday's Heavy Metal heavy South Park episode, "Major Boobage". And as I've also much love for new media distribution platforms, am.fm.pm has got to give a plug to the freshly launched South Park Studios. Vicaom, whose clunky, near unnavigable MTV Overdrive portal once forcasted poor Web 2.0 presence for the media monster, has stepped their game up once more with South Park Studios, offering full length, high resolution streams of every South Park episode ever produced. Granted, it's nothing that fan site South Park Zone hasn't been doing for years, but it's nice to see the MSM get up to speed. The site's sole catch? "Due to continuing contractual obligations, all new episodes will be available online for 7 days after they premiere on Comedy Central. These episodes will return permanently to the site 30 days after they air". Considering the breadth of content however, that's a generous concession. (The WGA didn't strike fer' nuthin, y'know.)
And hey! Bonus Jamz as hell! The Heavy Metal Soundtrack's got gems aplenty. (Sidebar: "Open Arms" by Journey was Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards' wedding song. So uh... THAT.) Below, two standouts brilliantly showcased by Trey and Matt in Wednesday's ep. come courtesy of Sammy Hagar and Eagles guitarist Don Felder.
Don Felder "Heavy Metal (Takin' A Ride)"
Sammy Hagar "Heavy Metal"
In other Heavy Metal news, it's good to know Kevin Eastman has something to keep himself occupied while he's not fucking Julie Strain.
To the Breastiary in Nippopolis!
