I'm having trouble keeping a pulse, so I've got to let music do it for me. All I care about is not being at the office. That and bed. I've got a good bit of Christmas shopping left to do before I leave New York this weekend, but first, bed. I slept for three hours last night, and the crispy clicks of the keyboard keys as I type this are starting to sound more and more like the little black beetles that I'm becoming more and more convinced are living in my spinal column. I'll deal with those little fuckers tomorrow. But first, bed.

Sneaking downstairs to the street for a cigarette every ninety minutes or so, I'm surprised at how not cold it is, wearing only a sweater vest as I am. To properly bundle in a jacket and scarf is to over-egg the custard, to give away to all lookers on that I'm sneaking down to the street for a cigarette. These 5 to 7 minute reprieves are spent watching little segments of Peep Show on my new video iPod nano, well ripped from a DVD by my roommate Marianna. Today's episode is aptly titled "The Bad Thing", and when I return to my desk, I assault my eardrums with every jarring electro squelch Ed Banger remix I can find online. The freeze dried coffee tastes like a fucking hairpiece. I'm having trouble keeping a pulse, so I've got to let music do it for me. I should have gone to Starbucks on that little break, but first, I've got to write.
