Hey yo. Ho ho hos an' all that. Merry Christmas. am.fm.pm's present to you?
Released with little fanfare in November of this past year, Gorillaz' D Sides is a far better realized collection of remixes and outtakes from 2005's galaxy wandering Demon Days than it's predecessor, the hit or miss G Sides EP of 2002. Every turn at which G Sides feels slapdash, D Sides is all the richer- each new track feels compellingly essential, holding the parent album's ethos of intergalactic ennui close to heart. ("Hong Kong", below, is a terrific example.) Perhaps it speaks to Days' better defined sound than that of the group's self titled freshman effort, but it's just as likely that I'm simply an ardent Damon Albarn apologist.
The album's second disk showcases solid remixes of Days standouts "Dare", "Kids With Guns", and "Dirty Harry" by the likes of Soulwax, DFA, Hot Chip, and more. All in all, these 22 tracks are a introspective necessity for the new year: sexy, hurt music lurking under comforters of cool. Hit up two personal favorite tracks below, and D/L the complete D Sides.

And, somewhere in California: Bill Groundhog's Day, Ghostbustin' Ass Murray.
SERIOUS delirium.
